I actually did my undergraduate degree and my medical school, training, and my residency all through Baptist, through Wake Forest, and then Wake Forest Baptist Health, and started practicing in Lexington about 1994, and so obviously my roots run deep with Wake Forest. I feel like that I\'m there to service and advocate for the patient, to listen to \'em, and hear them out as to what\'s going on and what is bothering them and how it affects their daily life. And then, once we establish that rapport, that relationship, trying to share my knowledge and expertise in a way that will help them improve their lifestyle and help them recover from injuries or anything of that nature. Physicians that have had injuries or illnesses, especially in their field of expertise, tend to be better physicians in a way. I think that it gives us insight as to what the patient\'s going through, beyond just the actual, the medical terminology or the anatomy. It helps us understand how it affects our patients\' lives and so, I\'ve had a few minor orthopedic injuries, some requiring surgery and it has really changed the way I practice, especially understanding the patient side of things'
