'Derrick Collins: Baylor\'s wound center saved me from losing my foot.'

02:40 Feb 14, 2021
'Diabetic neuropathy caused Derrick Collins to lose sensation in his feet. He was unaware a small blister had turned into an ulcer the size of the palm of his hand. When the ulcer would not heal, Derrick was at risk of having his foot amputated and turned to Baylor for comprehensive wound care. Derrick underwent hyperbaric oxygen therapy to promote healing. He then wore a total contact cast, which relieved the pressure on his wound while still allowing him to walk. Within months, the wound was healed. Derrick has returned to leading a community choir he co-founded. \"Without Baylor, I may have been facing an amputation. Thanks to the awesome care I received, my dreams and goals are still possible.\" For more information about wound care services, visit http://www.BSWHealth.com/WoundCare.'
