The material of majority of the backpack is a smooth durable polyester, that is also water resistant, but I really appreciate how breathable the back of the bag is, I sweat fairly easily and I had this on for quite a while at the airport and it helped my back stay dry. From a traveling standpoint, this backpack can hold more than a weekend's worth of clothing and items. I was able to fit two outfits in the main expandable section, as well as some undergarments and an extra shirt, with some room to left over, and I really enjoyed the zippered adjacent side, because I was able to keep my toiletries in there without having to worry about anything spilling. In the laptop portion of the backpack, the fabric that lines the laptop pocket is nice and soft, so it kept my laptop safe and scratch free, I was also able to keep my nintendo switch in that area for easy access on the plane. There's a few front pockets as well, and I kept my travel gear for my electronics in one of the main front pockets (cords, cables, chargers, etc.). Another nice feature is the usb port on the outside that can connect to a powerbank on the inside, so you can essentially charge your phone without trying to dig through your items for a powerbank. Lastly, I really enjoyed the padded shoulder straps, it eased the strain of when I wore the backpack (I had a weekends worth of clothes, toiletries, and all of electronic gadgets, so it was fairly heavy), luckily the built in luggage strap helped the backpack stay secure and in place on top of my luggage.In addition, when the backpack is empty, it's actually not bulky at all, and with the added protection for laptops/tablets, this can easily be used for work or school. There's a handle on the side of the backpack, so it can be carried almost like a briefcase, so either way carrying the bag vertically or horizontally, this backpack is great for travel and as a "daily driver" for those who work or go to school.
