The open road is calling to Americans whose spring and early summer travel plans got put off during the pandemic. "This year will be the summer of the road trip," said Aldo Vazquez, public relations spokesman for AAA. Each year, AAA issues a travel forecast for the big summer holidays, but for the first time in 20 years, it didn't for Memorial Day weekend or the Fourth of July. The travel organization did however give an overall outlook for the summer. "The kinds of trends we expect to see over the summer are kind of the same trends we expect to see over the Fourth of July weekend as well," Vazquez said.
