'ഞങ്ങൾക്ക് ജാഫ്ന പോവാൻ പറ്റിയില്ല, പക്ഷേ കൊളോമ്പോയിൽ തന്നെ ജാഫ്ന മട്ടൺ വറവൽ കഴിക്കുവാൻ പറ്റി. അത് കൂടാതെ പുട്ടും, ചിക്കൻ കറിയും, മുട്ട അപ്പവും, പൊതിച്ചോറും ഒക്കെ കിട്ടി കൊളോമ്പോയിൽ. ഇത് കേരളമല്ല, കൊളോമ്പോയിലെ രുചികൾ ആണ്. We wanted to travel by train to Jaffna, and we did reserve our seats. However, there was an unexpected strike and we had to cancel our trip to Jaffna. Yet we could enjoy some Jaffna mutton varaval (or Jaffna Mutton Varuval) in Colombo itself. We visited Upali\'s Restaurant for breakfast. From here, we tasted Sri Lankan variation of Appam, Puttu and Orotti. Appam was crispier than ours, and tasted good. Jaffna mutton varaval that we tasted from there was also delicious, but I felt the mutton to be a little chewy. After Upali\'s, we went to the famous Dutch Burger Union for tasting their unique Pothichoru (meals wrapped in banana leaf). In Sri Lanka, they call it Lamprais. There were some chutneys, and curries along with it. Although some side dishes were totally unlike our preparations, it was a good change altogether.
